Shariah Investment Principles
The HK Islamic Index was introduced in 2007
in response to increasing trends towards Islamic investment, as
the first Hong Kong benchmark to feature an Islamic compliant portfolio
of index-eligible companies. The Index is intended to represent
the performance of Shariah-compliant companies from both the Hong
Kong and China market.
Shariah Compliance
The HK Islamic Index Shariah Board consists of the “Shariah Advisory Council”
of The Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry, which, under guidance from the Chief Imam of Hong Kong
has adopted the Shariah Compliance Methodology in accordance with generally accepted Shariah guidelines.

Financial Ratios
The HK Islamic Index Methodology includes stringent screens of business activities and financial ratios based on total assets.
Broad Coverage
The HK Islamic Index is constructed from select Hong Kong public listed companies
encompassing seventy eight (78) of Hong Kong and China’s leading and emerging enterprises.
Index Licensing
The HK Islamic Index may be licensed for use by institutional investors around the world for portfolio management and benchmarking purposes, as well as to serve as the basis of structured products and other index-linked investments.
